Victoria Sculpture Foundry
In the summer of 1966 my wife and I
built a bronze foundry in an abandoned chicken house on the farm where we lived
near Victoria, Minnesota. We opened for business that fall and began casting &
finishing works for sculptors in Minnesota and the surrounding states. During
the 2 years that we owned and operated the foundry we cast over 1,000 pieces.
I returned to teaching in 1968, moving to the Detroit area. That fall my collegue,
John Pappas, and I built a foundry in the sculpture facility at Eastern Michigan
University. That facility has provided the initial opportunity for hundreds of
students to learn bronze casting.
