This was an artists' performance piece. The artist was dressed in academic robes appropriate to the degree of Master of Fine Arts. The activity involved mopping a linear stretch of the floor of the gallery, back and forth between two sound sources playing two short (5 second) repeating tape loops. From one source came the voice of a young girl saying "Everything is new!" From the other a mature man's voice said, "Nothing ever changes!" The piece was performed at "New Video and Performance Art in Detroit" at The Detroit Institute of Arts, Detroit, Michigan. |
